books and novels by outstanding independent self-published author S. Bradley Stoner

S. Bradley Stoner, Author

My introduction to S. Bradley Stoner was through his good-natured, but always on-point social media contributions and, then, his hilarious blog posts about life in suburbia. Suckered in, I looked up his novels and, though I’m no stranger to the hardships of wilderness living, Prey for Survival was a truly brutal book to get through. The tension and terror, the horrific danger, the not-knowing — well, let’s just say that when, in his blurb, he says “not for the faint of heart,” he really, really means it, and The Blackwitch Legacy is just as reality-driven and just a tense. Those who love gritty, realistic historical wilderness stories will love these detailed, real-to-the-era accounts.

Then, there’s the other side of S. Bradley Stoner — the poet, the children’s story-teller, and the humorist. These are for absolutely everyone, guaranteed!

Whatever your tastes, S. Bradley Stoner’s work comes well-recommended by yours truly. — D. L. Keur

Prey for Survival by S. Bradley Stoner

The Blackwitch Legacy by S. Bradley Stoner

Set against the vast lands and incomparable beauty of the Canadian Rockies, dominated by a towering black ridge, The Blackwitch Legacy brews a tale of conflict and triumph for both man and beast, where treasures are wrested from the cold breast of the Blackwitch and lost for a half century, only to reemerge and change lives forever. Here beauty and savagery, honor and deceit, kindness and greed weave their magic, mirroring the lives of men and women in an untamed environment.

Humor and Fishing

The Square Peg Book

(Available in eBook & paperback)

The Square Peg Book by S. Bradley Stoner

Originally conceived as a newspaper column for a local paper in Montana, The Square Peg found new life as a blog series nearly a quarter of a century later. While the editors of the paper did not share my enthusiasm, not to mention my sense of humor, the electronic wonder box netted me an audience. So the columns I wrote between 1981 and 1983 that never saw the light of day grew into something bigger. There's something to be said for thumbing one's nose at editors. The Square Peg takes a wacky look at life, especially life in Texas suburbia. Join me, Bingo Bob, Duncan Donutz, Col. Duffer, Patti Peeksalot, Paula Pettingzoo, and all the other zany characters in Mr. Codger’s neighborhood. Oh, and don’t forget to smile, laugh, and generally improve your outlook on life… or you might find yourself in my next book. Life is a short trip, you might as well have fun and enjoy it!

Fishing and Other Misadventures

Fishing and Other Misadventures by S. Bradley Stoner

Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, this is a romp through life as seen through the eyes of a fisherman and traveler from childhood to retirement. Most of it is true, if you can trust the word a fisherman. Partly because it was and is my family's penchant, and partly because of my job, I have traveled a lot. I've been to all but two states in this wonderful country, and I've managed to fish, hike or hunt in most of them. It's been quite a journey, and one that I hope continues. So, join me, won't you? Who knows? The fish might be biting!

Beau's Dragon by S. Bradley Stoner

"It was a fine new morning. A fine new morning filled with new and wonderful things. New things to see. New things to do. Beau was just the one to see them and do them."

So begins the tale of magical things that spring from a little boy's imagination. Remember when you got that toy… the one in the big box… and how that box seemed much more fun to play with than the toy itself? How it could magically become whatever you wanted it to be? How just one word could bring to mind a whole story to build your day around? And what amazing adventures you could have? One word, "draggin'", becomes Beau's word for the day… only he sees the word as "dragon," and, oh, what adventures it leads to for Sir Beau of Poplar and his magical, mystical, dragon, Agillator.

Grab your box… the adventure begins!
